Iao School is an intermediate school, which serves students in grades 6, 7 and 8. The enrollment is currently about 920 students. The school serves students from diverse areas such as the seaside village of Kahakuloa to the agricultural fields of Waikapu to the heart of the county government in Wailuku.
We welcome students from a diverse population, and from many cultures and we honor the unique gifts that we receive from our host culture. We endeavor to meet all students at their needs; we seek to ensure that all students meet, or exceed, our high standards of scholarship and citizenship; we strive to instill pride in self, school, and community.
At Iao School, we believe that every student deserves the opportunity to be the best that he or she can be. To effect those ends, we all must be the best we can be.
The Iao 'ohana is a community of advocates dedicated to inspire and lead all students to achieve academic excellence, realize individual goals, and become positive, thriving members of this global society.
Our purpose is to produce ethical students who are:
respectful of diversity
self directed learners
producers of quality products and performances, and
effective users of technology
in order that they meet/exceed standards and be promoted to high school.
